Why Won’t TikTok Let Me Save Videos? Possible Fixes Guide.

Sometimes TikTok won’t let you save videos, whether they are your own or those of other TikTok users.

Here, I’ve compiled a list of possible fixes that hopefully can help you pinpoint and fix the problem.

The TikTok Servers Could Be Offline. Here’s how to check it.

There’s a chance that TikTok’s servers are offline, and that is what’s preventing you from saving videos as expected.

The easiest way to check this is to visit the Downdetector website to see whether TikTok is experiencing outages. You can learn about the current status of TikTok’s servers.

If the service is down, all you do is be patient and wait for them to fix things.

Try Restarting Your Device

Occasionally, you’ll experience glitches when you haven’t restarted your smartphone/tablet in a long time.

Simply restarting the device might make TikTok work better again. This is a simple trick that often solves issues with not being able to save videos.

You won’t believe how many PC and phone problems I’ve fixed by simply rebooting the d*mn thing!

Internet Connection Problems

Internet connection problems can also prevent you from saving videos. Perhaps your internet is down or just really slow.

Running a speed test will show you how fast your internet is. Most go to Fast.com or Speedtest.net to learn this information. It’s simple, and it displays exactly how fast your connection is.

Many different things can cause internet connection issues. Here are a few common problems and how to fix them:

  • If you’re using mobile data, you might be in a spot in your home where you don’t have a good connection. Move your butt to another location.
  • You might have used up all of the cellular data included in the subscription, so your ISP has toggled your connection, which is extremely slow. (Try using Wi-Fi instead.)
  • If you’re on Wi-Fi, your modem or router might have problems—try resetting it. If that doesn’t work, try using a mobile data connection instead.

The User Hasn’t Allowed Video Downloads.

TikTok allows content creators to control whether people can save their videos. So, another possibility is that the user who posted the TikTok video didn’t enable video downloads.

If you cannot save a specific video, try downloading a different one to see if that works. If the save option isn’t available, it might simply be that the video you’re trying to save isn’t allowing you to do it because of the creator’s wishes.

In that case, you should respect that the user doesn’t want you to download their video.

Update TikTok

Are you using an older version of TikTok on your phone? There’s a chance that saving videos won’t work if you’re using an old app version.

Updating TikTok is simple enough:

  1. Open up App Store (iOS devices) or Google Play Store (Android devices)
  2. Tap your profile and navigate to your apps list
  3. Find the TikTok App in the list.
  4. Click “Update” if you see the option next to the app.

After updating, see if you’re able to save videos normally.

In closing

I hope these different methods of solving TikTok’s saving issues will help you.

  1. So frustrating! I’ve been trying to save videos on TikTok for ages, but it just won’t let me. It’s like they don’t want us to be able to preserve the good stuff. Anyone else having this issue?
