Programs offered
Intensive 4-year diploma programs in Directing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Sound Design, Editing, Production Design, and Producing. Each department has its own entrance exam and curriculum.
Teaching approach
Combines technical training with strong emphasis on artistic vision and cinema history. Students study French and European film tradition in depth. Lots of group projects and collaborative productions.
Equipment and facilities
Located in historic Pathé studios in Montmartre, occupying nearly 10,000 square metres. Fully equipped film studios with latest digital and film cameras. State-of-the-art edit suites, sound stages, and post-production facilities. Equipment constantly upgraded through partnerships with ARRI, Sony, and other manufacturers.

Admissions
Extremely competitive. Overall acceptance rate approximately 3%; directing acceptance is about 1%. Entrance via competitive exam (different exams for EU and non-EU applicants). Must have completed at least 2 years of university. FRENCH PROFICIENCY IS MANDATORY. Cannot sit exam more than 3 times.
Cost
Extremely affordable: approximately €400-500 per year for all students (EU and international alike). This is one of Europe’s most affordable elite film schools, funded by the French government.
For visiting and exchange students
Very limited. La Fémis is designed for full-degree students only. Some exchange programs for students already enrolled in partner schools. Not recommended for short-term or semester-abroad students.
Who this school is best for
Only for serious filmmakers who speak French fluently (or willing to learn) and want intensive, artistic training in European cinema tradition. Not for casual interest or English-only speakers.
